THE ESSENCE OF THE GITA

Why do you worry unnecessarily? Why are you unnecessarily scared? Who can kill you? The soul is neither created, nor can it be destroyed. Whatever has happened, it happened for the good. Whatever is happening, that is also good. Whatever will happen would also be good. Do not repent over the past; do not worry about the future; the present is ongoing. What have you lost that you weep over it? What did you bring with you that you have lost? What did you create that has been destroyed? You did not bring anything with you; whatever you have got, you got it from here; whatever you have given, you gave it away, here; whatever you have attained, the Almighty gave it to you; whatever you gave away, you gave it to Him. Empty handed did you come, and empty handed would you go away. What is yours today, belonged to somebody else yesterday, and will be somebody else’s tomorrow. You are in bliss, thinking it to be yours alone. This bliss is the cause of all your sorrows. Change is the order of the world. What you imagine to be dead, that itself is life. You become the owner of millions in a second; in the next second you become a pauper. Mine and yours, high and low, what is our own and what belongs to someone else; purge these from your mind, remove these sentiments from your thoughts; then all is yours and you are everybody else’s. Neither is this body yours, nor are you of this body. It is formed from fire, water, air and the sky, and will merge with them. But the soul is immovable, and then who are you? Dedicate yourself to the Lord. He is your best support. The one who has the knowledge of His support, remains forever free from fear, worries and sorrows.Whatever you do, dedicate it to the Lord. By doing so you will always enjoy the bliss of being free from the vagaries of life. Thus spoke the Lord Sri Krishna, while delivering the sermon of the GITA to Prince Arjun, on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.
